In plain words

The one who faces the Guru and pleases the Guru has pondered the Vedas, the ancient books of wisdom.

Pleasing the Guru, that person is carried across.

Pleasing the Guru, they gain the wisdom of the Word.

Pleasing the Guru, they come to know the path within.

Facing the Guru, you reach the One who cannot be seen and has no end.

Nanak says: facing the Guru, you find the door to freedom.

The deepest study is not in a book; it is in how you live.
The deeper layer

Pleasing the Guru is the deepest study. Gurmukh parchai bayd beechaaree: being in tune with the Guru is itself pondering the Vedas. Living it counts for more than knowing the books. The reward is the mukat duaar, the door of liberation, opening from within rather than being reached by learning alone.

A Question to Sit With

What have you learned by doing that you never learned by reading?
