O hermit, the True One, the still One, is what holds up the breath that reaches ten fingers' length.
Facing the Guru, you speak, churn out the essence, and come to know the unseen, endless One.
Wipe out the three pulls of the mind, seat the Word inside, and the mind is rid of pride.
Know the One inside and out, and you fall in love with the Naam.
You understand the Sushmana, Ida and Pingala, the body's three breath channels, when the unseen One shows itself.
Nanak says: the True One is above all three; through the True Guru's Word, you merge with the One.
Breath techniques point somewhere, and the True One lies above them all.
Sukhmana, ida and pingala are the three channels of breath in yoga. The yogic map is honored and then gone beyond: the True One is tihu tay oopar, above these three, and is met through grace and the Word. The trai gun, three qualities, are restlessness, dullness and calm, the moods that pull the mind around.
When has a method mattered less than the heart behind it?
