Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Luhaareepaa, a student of Gorakh, says: "We stay away from shops and roads, and live in the woods among the plants and trees.
We eat fruit and roots. This is the wisdom of those who have left the world.
We bathe at holy places and gain peace; not a speck of dirt sticks to us.
This is the way of yoga."
Some look for peace far from shops and roads, out in the woods.
Many yogis believed leaving the world was the way: living in the forest, eating roots and fruit (kand mool), bathing at holy places. Luhaareepaa, a student of the great yogi Gorakh, speaks for them with dignity. Their way is sincere, and Nanak never mocks it; he answers with a way that turns inward.
