Those without Naam Are Filled with Pollution

Those who do not have the Naam in their mouths are filled with pollution; they are filthy throughout the four ages.

In plain words

Those who do not have the Naam in their mouths are filled with pollution throughout the four ages.

Without loving devotion to God, their faces are blackened and their honor is lost.

Those who have forgotten the Naam are plundered by evil. They weep and wail in dismay.

Without the Naam, the soul is plundered by its own internal thieves — ego, lust, anger, greed operate freely.
The deeper layer

The contrast with Pauri 6 (those with the Name win the game): those without the Name are filled with pollution throughout all four ages. Not in this age only — across all the ages of the cosmic cycle. The pollution is not a circumstantial condition; it is the condition of the soul without its ground.

'Plundered by evil' (luttay buray) — the evil that plunders those who have forgotten the Name is not external aggression. It is the internal thieves of ego, lust, anger, greed — the classical Sikh teaching about the internal predators that operate freely when the Naam is not present.

A Question to Sit With

What internal qualities or patterns do the most damage when you are not spiritually grounded? And what does being grounded do to them?
