In plain words

O my mind — drink in the Sublime Essence of the Lord. And your thirst shall be quenched.

Those Gurmukhs who have tasted it remain absorbed in the Lord with ease — not through effort, but because they found what the thirst was actually for.

Once you've tasted the real thing, the substitutes lose their appeal.

The thirst is real and pointing at something real — find the right drink, and it ends.
The deeper layer

The rahao introduces the Ras (essence/nectar/taste) metaphor that runs through many of Guru Amar Das's shabads. The soul has a thirst — and it has been trying to satisfy it with substitutes. The Sublime Essence is what the thirst was actually pointing toward.

This is the key psychological insight: desire is not the problem. Desire misdirected is the problem. The thirst is real — it is pointing at something real. The question is whether you find the right drink or keep substituting.

A Question to Sit With

What is a hunger or thirst in your life that nothing seems to satisfy? What do you think it might actually be pointing toward?
