Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The Gurmukhs do good deeds and blossom forth — balanced and detached in the Lord, they are in ecstasy.
Night and day, they perform devotional worship. Subduing their ego, they are carefree.
By great good fortune, I found the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. I have found the Lord, with easy calm and joy.
Guru Amar Das says those who face the Guru bloom like flowers, and he tells how he found good company.
Gurmukh karam kamaavai bigsai means the gurmukh does good deeds and blossoms. Bigsai means to blossom, like a flower opening. That blooming happens on its own. It is not a show. Anand means deep joy. It is not something you win. It comes when ha-umai, the ego, is quieted. Ha-umai maar nichand means they quiet the ego and are free of worry.
Vadai bhaag satsangat paa-ee means by great good fortune I found the satsangat, the True Congregation. That means good company, people gathered around the Name. You do not find it by clever searching. It comes to you when grace is there. And finding it is itself the grace.
Think of making a true friend at a new school. You did not plan it. It just happened, and it changed everything.
Where or with whom have you found genuine community — people who bring out what is best and most real in you? How did you find them?
