The True Guru has revealed to him the Treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord; he drinks in the Sublime Essence of the Lord, and is satisfied. ||3||

In plain words

That person is a Holy Saadhu — a genuine renouncer — whose heart is filled with the Naam.

Their inner being is not touched by anger or dark energies. They have lost their selfishness and conceit.

The True Teacher has revealed to them the Treasure of the Name. They drink in the sweet taste of the Lord, and they are fully satisfied.

True renunciation is not a costume — it is the inner state of someone whose ego no longer has a grip.
The deeper layer

Guru Amar Das says a truly holy person is known by what is in their heart, not by what they wear.

So saadhoo bairaagee so-ee hirdai naam vasaa-ay means that person is a saadhoo (holy person) and a bairaagee (one who has let go of the world) whose heart holds the Name. In Guru Amar Das's time, those words usually meant people who wandered and wore the outer signs of giving up the world. He says the inner quality is what counts, not the outfit.

Think of a team jersey. Wearing it does not make you a good player. How you play does.

Antar laag na taamas moolay means dark moods, like anger, do not touch them inside. This is not because they push anger down. Vichahu aap gavaa-ay means they have let go of the self-importance inside. When the ego is gone, anger has nothing to hold on to.

Har ras pee-aa aghaa-ay means they drink the sweet taste of the One and are full.

A Question to Sit With

What do you think 'having nothing to prove' would feel like? Has there been a moment when you felt that — even briefly?
