Serve your True Lord and Master, and you shall be blessed with true greatness.
By Guru's Grace, He comes to dwell in the mind — and egotism is driven out.
This wandering mind — always going somewhere else — comes to rest when the Lord casts His Glance of Grace.
This one says the mind that keeps running around finally rests when the One looks on it with grace.
Ih man Dhaavat taa rahai — this running mind comes to rest. Guru Amar Das often speaks about this restless mind. A wandering mind is its own kind of hurt. It is never settled, never fully anywhere.
Think of a snow globe after a shake. The flakes swirl and swirl. You can't make them settle by shaking harder. You set it down, and they drift to rest.
The answer is grace. Jaa aapay nadar karay-i — when He Himself looks with kindness. That kind look settles the mind. It isn't our own effort that does it.
What we are asked to do is serve. Sachaa saahib sayvee-ai — serve the True Master. Serving opens us up, like opening a window, so the grace can come in and settle the wandering.
When does your mind most wander? And when is it most settled? What creates the difference?
