Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Blessed is the mother who gave birth. Blessed and honored is the father. Their child serves the True Teacher and finds peace, and pride is driven out from within.
Standing at the Lord's Door, the humble Saints serve Him. They find the Treasure of Excellence.
This one says a person who serves the Guru brings blessing even to the parents who raised them.
Dhan jannee jin jaa-i-aa — blessed is the mother who gave birth. The father is honored too. Why? Because their child served the True Guru, found peace, and lost their pride. Think of a whole family beaming at a school event because one child did something kind. Goodness spreads back to the people who raised you. This fits Guru Amar Das's teaching, which always sees people as part of a family and a community.
Dar sayvan sant jan kharhay — the humble saints stand at the Lord's door and serve. They serve without any hidden goal. They stand at the doorway in plain humility, not strolling inside as if they owned the place. That is where they find the Treasure of good qualities.
Who are the people whose influence most shaped who you are? Do they know how they've shaped you? Have you told them?
