Come Meet Me, Sisters — Tell Me About My Husband

gi-aan vihoonee pir mutee-aa piram na paa-i-aa jaa-ay.
She is utterly lacking in spiritual wisdom; she is abandoned by her Husband Lord. She cannot obtain His Love.
In the darkness of intellectual ignorance, she cannot see her Husband, and her hunger does not depart.
aavhu milhu sahayleeho mai pir dayh milaa-ay.
Come and meet with me, my sister soul-brides, and unite me with my Husband.
poorai bhaag satgur milai pir paa-i-aa sach samaa-ay. ||3||
She who meets the True Guru, by perfect good fortune, finds her Husband; she is absorbed in the True One. ||3||

In plain words

Come, meet me, O sisters! Tell me about my Husband Lord.

What are His qualities? How can I please Him? Those who have pleased their Husband — how did they do it?

The soul-bride who has not yet found turns to those who have. This is the purpose of Sangat: to share the knowledge of the Beloved.

The soul-bride who has not yet found calls to those who have — community is the bridge between seeking and finding.
The deeper layer

The seeking soul-bride calls to her saheli (female companions, sisters) — the True Congregation in its intimate form. Kant-knowledge: how do I know my Husband? How do those who have found Him describe Him?

This is Guru Amar Das's teaching on Sangat in the soul-bride register: the community of those who have found the Beloved provides guidance, testimony, and living example to those still seeking. The sisters who have met the Husband share their experience.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever turned to someone who had found something you were looking for and asked them to share what it was like? What did they tell you, and did it help?
