In plain words

This Sublime Essence of the Lord is in the forests, in the fields, and everywhere — but the unfortunate ones do not taste it.

Without the True Guru, it is not obtained. The self-willed manmukhs continue to cry in misery.

They do not bow before the True Guru. The demon of anger is within them.

The Essence is everywhere — the palate of anger cannot taste what is in the very air around it.
The deeper layer

The Essence is omnipresent — ban mahi khett mahi hari — in the forests and fields. It is not hidden or restricted to sacred spaces. And still, the unfortunate ones do not taste it. They are surrounded by what they are seeking and cannot perceive it.

What blocks the perception: not bowing before the Guru (resistance to the teaching) and the demon of anger (krodh — literally doot, demon — within). Anger closes the palate. The one filled with anger cannot taste what is everywhere around them.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever been so angry or closed that you could not see what was right in front of you — something good, something beautiful, something true? What happened when the anger passed?
