Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
All things are received if the One is obtained.
The precious gift of this human life becomes fruitful when one chants the True Word of the Shabad.
One who has such destiny written on their forehead enters the Mansion of the Lord's Presence through the Guru.
This line says: find the One, and you find everything worth having.
Sabhay thok paraapatay jay aavai ik hath: all things come to you if the One comes into your hands. This is not a promise of getting rich. It means the One holds everything of real value. When you find the One, you discover that what you were hunting for was there all along.
Think of charging your phone. Once the battery is full, every app works: the camera, the music, the maps. You don't charge each app one by one. Find the One, and the rest comes to life.
Janam padaarath safal hai: this janam, this human life, is a precious gift. It becomes safal, full of fruit, jay sachaa sabad kath, when you speak the True Shabad, the Guru's Word. It is not piling up things or trophies that makes a life count. It is the Word.
Gur tay mahal paraapatay: through the Guru, you reach the mahal, the palace where the Lord is near. Jis likhi-aa hovai math: this comes to the one for whom it is "written on the forehead." That is an old way of saying the gift comes from the Lord first. Guru Amar Das and Guru Ram Das use the same picture. His kindness comes before we even walk in the door.
If you found what you were actually looking for — the thing underneath all the other things you say you want — what do you think that would be?
