In plain words

The One is within the home of the self, and the One is outside as well. He Himself is in all places and interspaces.

Meditate twenty-four hours a day on the One who created all beings and creatures.

Attuned to the Love of the One, there is no sorrow or suffering.

The One is both within and without, equally — there is no place where He is not, and no place where you can escape Him.
The deeper layer

Ghar mahi aapo bahar aapo — within the home and outside, both. This is Guru Arjan's statement of the divine's complete immanence and transcendence simultaneously. Not within only (limiting the divine to the interior), not outside only (making the divine something separate). Both, equally, completely.

The Love of the One (Eko rango) produces the state where dukh na chhuai — sorrow and suffering do not touch. Not removed, but not touching — the protection of love.

A Question to Sit With

Do you experience the divine as more 'within' or more 'outside'? What would it feel like if both were equally true at the same time?
