Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I have fallen in love with the True Lord. He does not die, He does not come and go.
In separation, He is not separated from us. He is pervading and permeating amongst all.
He is the Destroyer of the pain and suffering of the meek. He bears True Love for His servants.
Wondrous is the Form of the Pure One. Through the Guru, I have met Him, O my mother!
Guru Arjan speaks like someone in love. He has fallen in love with the True One, who never dies and never leaves.
Pareet lagee tis sach si-o means I have fallen in love with the True One. This is the language of bhagti, loving devotion, spoken very directly. And what is the Beloved like? Marai na aavai jaa-ay means He does not die, and He does not come and go.
Naa vaychhorhi-aa vichhurhai means even when we feel apart, He is not apart from us. Sabh meh rahi-aa samaa-ay means He is present in everyone. Even the feeling of distance happens inside the One's presence.
Think of a video call where your screen freezes. You feel cut off, but the person is still right there, still loving you.
Deen darad dukh bhanjnaa means He breaks the pain of the humble, those who have nothing. Achraj roop niranjano means the Pure One's form is full of wonder. Guru Arjan tells his mother: through the Guru, I have met Him.
Is there a relationship in your life marked by the fear of loss — someone or something you love and fear losing? What would it feel like to love something that could never be lost?
