The Name is the wealth of those who serve the One - a treasure God gave them Himself.
The Name is their protection, strong on every side. They admire nothing else the way they admire the One.
Through and through, they are soaked in that love - in the deepest stillness, they drink its essence.
Around the clock, the Name is on their lips. They live openly - nothing to hide. Nanak says: through their love, many others are carried to freedom alongside them.
A person soaked in the Name lives in the open, and carries many others across along with them.
Two pictures stand out here. The first: har kaa bhagat pargat nahee chhapai — the One's devotees are seen and known. They do not hide. A life of remembering is not a strange private hobby or a secret club. It is lived out in the open. People can see it as kindness and steadiness.
The second is the closing line. Naanak jan sang kaytay taray — along with the One's servants, many others get across. The devotee is like a raft with room on it. Peace spreads. The company you keep shapes the way you face. One truly steady person can quietly hold up a whole household. Japji Sahib says the same in its closing verse. Those who remember carry many others across with them.
Think of one calm kid on a scary bus ride. Soon the kids around them start to calm down too.
Two more phrases sit side by side. Sunn samaadh is the deepest stillness. Aath pahar, all eight watches of the day, means around the clock. Together they show both ends of practice: going very deep, and simply remembering all day long.
Who in your life steadies you just by being who they are - and who might you be steadying?
