This body is caught in the waves of desire. O my True Lord, You are my only hope! ||125||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

There is only one bird on the lake, and fifty hunters with nets.

This body is caught in the waves of wanting. O True One, You are my only hope!

One bird, fifty nets — the True One is my hope.
The deeper layer

When so many wants are trying to catch you, the True One is the only hope.

Sarvar pankhee haykrho: one bird on the lake. Faaheevaal pachaas: fifty trappers. The bird is the soul, and the trappers are all the wants and worries that try to catch it.

Ih tan lahree gad thi-aa: this body is tangled in the waves. Sachay tayree aas: O True One, my hope is in You. Think of a small boat in a stormy sea, its sailor looking toward the lighthouse.

A Question to Sit With

What wants pull at you most, and where do you turn when they do?
