Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

What is that word? What is that good quality? What is that magic charm?

What are the clothes I can wear to win my Husband's heart?

What word, what quality, what clothes will win the Beloved?
The deeper layer

The longing soul asks what word, what quality, what charm or clothes will win the Beloved.

Kavan so akhar: what is that word? Kavan gun: what good quality? Manee-aa mant: a magic charm, the kind people believed could win someone's love. Vayso: clothes.

The soul speaks as a bride hoping to please her kant, her Husband, the One. The next salok gives the answer.

A Question to Sit With
