Wear these three robes, O sister, and you will captivate your Husband Lord. ||127||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Humility is the word, forgiveness is the good quality, and a sweet tongue is the magic charm.

Wear these three as your clothes, O sister, and you will win your Husband's heart.

Humility, forgiveness and sweet words win the Beloved.
The deeper layer

Humility, forgiveness and sweet speech are what win the Beloved.

Nivan so akhar: bowing low, humility, is the word. Khavan gun: forgiveness is the good quality. Jihbaa manee-aa mant: a sweet tongue is the magic charm. This answers the question asked in the salok just before it.

Farid speaks to a "sister," bhainay, and says these three are the clothes to wear. The advice is for everyone. Think of the clothes you put on every morning. Humility, forgiveness and kind words can be put on the same way, every day.

A Question to Sit With

Which of these three — humility, forgiveness, or kind words — could you wear more often?
