Chaubolay, Verse 6 — a world tangled in false pursuits

ਮੂਸਨ ਮਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਈ ਮਰਤ ਹਿਰਤ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
moosan maram na jaan-ee marat hirat sansaar.
O Musan, the world does not understand the Mystery of the Lord; it is dying and being plundered.
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਰੰਮ ਨ ਬੇਧਿਓ ਉਰਝਿਓ ਮਿਥ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥੬॥
paraym piramm na bayDhi-o urjhi-o mith bi-uhaar. ||6||
It is not pierced through by the Love of the Beloved Lord; it is entangled in false pursuits. ||6||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O Musan, the world does not know this secret; it keeps dying and being robbed.

Its heart is never pierced by the Beloved's love; it stays tangled in false dealings.

Tangled in false dealings, the world misses the Beloved's love.
The deeper layer

A world tangled in false dealings never feels the Beloved's love.

Maram na jaan-ee: the world does not know the secret, the mystery of love. Marat hirat sansaar: it keeps dying and being robbed, losing its days to things that do not last. Urjhi-o mith bi-uhaar: it is tangled up in false dealings, so love never reaches its heart.

A Question to Sit With

What busy little things sometimes crowd out what matters most?
