With one kind look you chase away the darkness, burn up wrongdoing and wipe away mistakes.
You are a strong hero of the Shabad, the Word. Your strength wipes out lust and anger.
You have brought greed and clinging under control. You care for and protect everyone who comes to you for shelter.
You gather in the joy of loving the soul, and your words pour out sweet nectar.
You are the True Guru in this dark age. Whoever holds to you with a true heart is carried across.
The lion, son of Pheru, is Guru Angad, the Guru of the world. Lehnaa lives raaj jog — ruling in the world and joined with the One.
Guru Angad is a hero of the Shabad, sabad soor, and the battle he wins is inside: against lust, anger, greed and clinging. Whoever holds to him with a true heart is carried across.
He cares for and protects, partipaalan, everyone who comes to him for shelter. His words pour out nectar.
Firanseeh means "the lion, son of Pheru." Guru Angad's father was Pheru Mal, so the name is a loving nickname: a lion, gentle to those who come for shelter.
