Savaiye in Praise of Guru Angad, Verse 6 — the more it carries, the lower it bows
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Your mind stays tuned to the One always, and you do whatever you wish.
Like a tree full of fruit, you bow low and bear the weight of it. Your thoughts are clean.
You know this truth: the One is everywhere, unseen and full of wonder.
With easy calm, you send out rays of the sweet, strong Word.
You have reached the place of the accepted Guru, and you hold on to truth and contentment.
Kal says: whoever sees Lehnaa has met the One.
The fuller a tree is with fruit, the lower its branches bow, and Guru Angad is like that tree: full and humble.
Darum sapoor ji-o nivai: like a tree full of fruit, he bows. He also bears the weight, khavai, the way a branch bears its load without complaint. He knows the One is everywhere, sarab gat, and his words go out like rays of light.
Sat santokh: truth and contentment, held tight. Jan darsan lahnay bha-you: to see Lehnaa is to meet the One. The bard is Kal.
Do you know someone with a lot to be proud of who stays humble anyway? What is that like?
