Savaiye in Praise of Guru Amar Das, Verse 4 — taking the teaching as true

The three hundred thirty million gods hold on to that Naam and meditate. It lives in the minds of those who stay pure and those who keep hard disciplines.
Bhisham, son of the Ganges, remembered that Naam. His mind delighted in the sweet nectar of the One's feet.
The deep and great Guru, wise and weighty, brought out that Naam. Taking the teaching as true, the Sangat was carried across.
That Naam, which can never be tricked and carries the devotees across, came to Guru Amar Das.
Those who take the Guru's teaching as true are carried across, and the Naam that carries them came to Guru Amar Das.
The Naam reaches everywhere: the taytees, the three hundred thirty million gods of the old stories, hold to it, and so do people who keep hard disciplines. Bhisham Pitama, a great hero of the Mahabharata, kept it in his heart.
Then comes sat kar sangat uDhree-aa: the Sangat took the teaching as true, and it was carried across. Taking it as true means letting it shape how you live. It is like knowing the rules of football: you learn the game on the field.
