Savaiye in Praise of Guru Arjun, the Fifth (Bhatt Kall), Verse 8 — seeing the unseen among the many

In quiet awe, you delight in the Fearless One. Among thousands of faces, you see the Unseen One.
Through the True Guru, you have come to know the One who is deep, hidden, and hard to reach.
Meeting the Guru, you are proven true. You live joined with the One, right in the middle of wealth and power.
Blessed, blessed, blessed is the Guru, who fills the empty pools until they overflow.
Reaching the Guru, you bear what is hard to bear, and you rest in a pool of contentment.
Kal says: Guru Arjun, you have found this calm joining with the One within yourself.
Guru Arjun sees the hidden One shining through every face. Laakh meh alakh lakhaa-ya-o means "among thousands, you see the Unseen." Picture a crowded school hall. Most people see only faces. He sees the same light in each of them.
The verse opens with bhai nirbha-o maani-a-o. Bhai here means awe, the hush you feel under a huge night sky. In that awe, he enjoys the Fearless One. Through the Guru, he has come to know the One who is deep and hard to reach.
Meeting the Guru, he is proven true. He practices jog, being joined with the One, right in the middle of wealth and power. He bears what is hard to bear, and rests in a pool of contentment.
Abhar sar subhar bharaa-ya-o means the empty pools are filled to overflowing. It is a tender picture of grace filling what was dry. The bard Kal says Guru Arjun found this calm joining within himself.
