Salok Vaaraan Te Vadheek (Mehl 1), Salok 14 — The Unbaked Pot Made Whole

bhaaNdaa Dhovai ka-un je kachaa saaji-aa.
Who can wash the unbaked clay pot?
Dhaatoo panj ralaa-ay koorhaa paaji-aa.
Joining the five elements together, the Lord made a false cover.
bhaaNdaa aanag raas jaaN tis bhaavsee.
When it pleases Him, He makes it right.
param jot jaagaa-ay vaajaa vaavsee. ||14||
The supreme light shines forth, and the celestial song vibrates and resounds. ||14||

In plain words

Who can wash a clay pot that was never baked?

The One mixed the five elements together and made this flimsy covering.

When it pleases the One, the pot is made right.

Then the highest light wakes up inside, and the heavenly music plays.

When it pleases the One, the unbaked pot is made whole and the light wakes up inside.
The deeper layer

The body is like an unbaked pot, and only the One can make it whole.

Dhovai ka-un: who can wash the pot, je kachaa saaji-aa, made unbaked? Water only turns soft clay to mud. The body, built from Dhaatoo panj, the five elements, is like that.

Tis bhaavsee: when it pleases the One, the pot is set right. Then param jot, the highest light, wakes up, and vaajaa, the music, plays.

A Question to Sit With

What is a part of you that still feels unfinished?
