ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਭੀ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ॥
saalaahee salaahnaa bhee sachaa saalaahi.
I praise the Praiseworthy Lord, and sing the Praises of the True Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਾ ਏਕੁ ਦਰੁ ਬੀਭਾ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਆਹਿ ॥੭॥
naanak sachaa ayk dar beebhaa parhar aahi. ||7||
O Nanak, the One Lord alone is True; stay away from all other doors. ||7||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I praise the One who is worthy of praise; I sing the praises of the True One.

Nanak says: the True One alone is the one door; leave all the other doors behind.

Praise the True One, the one door, and leave the other doors behind.
The deeper layer

Give your praise to the One. That one door is enough.

saalaahee salaahnaa — I praise the One who is worth praising. The verse repeats the word, like a song that keeps coming back to its chorus. Praising what is good and true slowly shapes us to be good and true.

Then comes the second line. naanak sachaa ayk dar — the True One is one door. beebhaa parhar aahi — leave the other doors alone.

Think of charging a phone. One working outlet charges you all the way.

A Question to Sit With

What are the different doors you sometimes knock on hoping to feel okay, and which ones help?
