The True Guru is the Giver of peace to Nanak; I am Your child, O Lord of the World. ||2||30||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Protect me, please protect me, God; I have come to Your shelter — this ocean of fire is so terrible.

The true Guru is the giver of peace to Nanak; I am Your child, Lord of the world.

Come to the One as a child comes to a parent — and simply ask to be kept safe.
The deeper layer

The close is the cry of a child: "I am Your child, O Lord of the World." Having come to "Your Sanctuary" from the "horrible ocean of fire," the soul asks simply to be protected — with the trust of a child who knows its parent. The Guru is "the Giver of peace," and the relationship is as tender as a child's.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to trust something the way a child trusts a parent?
