Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Say the Name every single day, O my mind.

You will find lasting peace, contentment, and calm — and your wrongs will fall away.

Say the Name every day, and a lasting calm builds while the old wrongs quietly fall away.
The deeper layer

This is the pause line, the center of the shabad. It asks for one small thing, every day: remember the Name.

Raam naam nit jap man mayray — "say the Name every day, O my mind." The Name works through steady practice, day after day, not in big dramatic bursts. It is like brushing your teeth or practicing an instrument. A few minutes each day does more than one long session once a month.

And look what grows from it: seetal saant sadaa sukh — coolness, calm, and lasting peace. The wrongs we carry, kilvikh, fall away by themselves.

A Question to Sit With

What good thing works best when you do it a little every single day?
