Sikhism·Raag Aasaa·Shabad 152
Verse 3 of 5

You Can Remember the One in the Middle of Your Work

ਕਾਰਜਿ ਕਾਮਿ ਬਾਟ ਘਾਟ ਜਪੀਜੈ ॥
kaaraj kaam baat ghaat japeejai.
While you work at your job, on the road and at the beach, meditate and chant.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੨॥
gur parsaad har amrit peejai. ||2||
By Guru's Grace, drink in the Ambrosial Essence of the Lord. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

While you work at your job, out on the road, anywhere at all — meditate and chant.

By the Guru's grace, drink the deep essence of the One.

You can remember the One right in the middle of your work and your commute.
The deeper layer

The most householder-friendly line: "while you work at your job, on the road... meditate and chant." Remembrance belongs in the workplace and the commute, not only the temple. You can drink "the Ambrosial Essence" in the middle of an ordinary working day (the Name woven through work).

A Question to Sit With

How could you bring a little of what matters most into your working day?
