I am imbued with the color of the Love of the Lord, Har, Har; God Himself has colored me in His Love. ||1||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I make the effort as You cause me to, my Master, to behold You in the company of the holy.
I am dyed in the color of the Love of the One; God Himself has colored me in His Love.
You don't dye yourself in love — the One colors you, even prompting the effort.
Even the soul's effort is prompted by grace — "I make the effort, as You cause me to do." And the dyeing is the One's own work: "God Himself has colored me in His Love" (Rang). The soul does not dye itself; it is dyed. Effort and grace, with grace doing the coloring.
A Question to Sit With
What good change in you was really something done to you, more than by you?
