Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
O servant of the One, let your dancing be meditation on the One.
If only I could meet such Saints, O Siblings of Destiny — I would wash the feet of those servants.
Let your dancing be meditation — and treasure the company that lifts you, enough to serve it.
The Pause gives the inner-dance teaching in a single line: "let your dancing be meditation on the Lord." The dance is relocated entirely to remembrance (cf. Shabad 31, Shabad 75). And the longing for Sangat is so deep that Nanak would "wash the feet" of such Saints — humility before the company that lifts him.
A Question to Sit With
Whose feet, so to speak, would you gladly wash — whose example would you gladly serve?
