In plain words

So ask the Guru, and think over the Guru's wisdom.

Then you will fall in love with the True One.

Let go of yourself, and become a loving servant.

Then the Life of the World comes to live in your mind.

Set down self-importance, and the Life of the whole world comes to live inside you.
The deeper layer

Ask, think it over, let go, and serve: that path brings the Life of the World to live inside you.

Gur poochhahu — ask the Guru, the teacher. Karahu beechaar — then think it through for yourself. Do that, and love for the True One starts to grow.

Next comes aap chhod — set down your self-importance. Become daasat bhaa-ay, a heart that is glad to help.

Then something amazing happens: ta-o jagjeevan vasai man aa-ay. The Life of the whole world comes to live inside you. Think of getting ready for a very special guest. You clear the clutter off the table so there is room. Letting go of self-importance is clearing the table. It makes room for the greatest Guest of all.

A Question to Sit With

What good thing might have more room to grow in you if you set down showing off?
