Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Those dyed in Truth are forever in spring.
Their minds and bodies turn fresh and green as they sing the praises of the Lord of the Universe.
Without the Naam, the world is dry and thirsty.
It burns in the fire of wanting, again and again.
Dyed in Truth, you live in a spring that never ends; without the Naam, life goes dry.
Here is the heart of Raag Basant, the spring raag.
saach ratay tin sad basant — those colored by truth are always in spring. man tan hari-aa — their minds and bodies turn hari-aa, fresh and green, as they sing about the One.
Without the Name, the world is dry. It burns in agan tarisnaa, the fire of thirst — always wanting the next thing and never feeling full. Picture two gardens. One gets watered every day and stays green. The other is forgotten, and the ground cracks. The dry one is not being punished. It simply has no water. The Name is the water.
What is something you kept wanting more of, that never quite filled you up?
