Doing What the Beloved Loves

so-ee karay je har jee-o bhaavai.
One who does only that which is pleasing to the Dear Lord
sadaa sukh sareer bhaanai chit laavai.
- his body is forever at peace, and his consciousness is attached to the Lord's Will.
apnaa parabh sayvay sahj subhaa-ay.
He serves His God with intuitive ease.
naanak naam vasai man aa-ay. ||4||5||
O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, comes to abide in his mind. ||4||5||

In plain words

Whoever does only what pleases the dear One

has a body always at peace, and a mind joined to the flow of the One's will.

They serve their One with natural ease.

Nanak says: the Naam comes to live in their mind.

When your wish and the flow of life point the same way, everything gets lighter.
The deeper layer

When we love what the One loves, doing right becomes easy, and the Name settles in the heart.

so-ee karay je har jee-o bhaavai — they do only what pleases the Dear One. bhaanai chit laavai — they join their mind to the bhaanaa, the One's will, the way life flows.

Think of a kid who loves helping a parent cook. It never feels like a chore, because they want to be there. Serving the One becomes that natural, sahj subhaa-ay, with ease. And Nanak says the Name comes to live in that heart and stays.

A Question to Sit With

When has doing the right thing felt easy instead of like a struggle?
