Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Only the Naam can carry the world across.

By the Guru's grace, you come to love the Naam.

Without the Naam, no one is set free.

From the Perfect Guru, the Naam is placed in your hands.

One Name is enough to carry you across.
The deeper layer

One thing carries the whole world across: the Naam, given through the Guru.

Ayk naam taaray sansaar: the one Naam ferries the world across, like a boat over rough water. Gur parsaadee: by the Guru's grace, as a gift. Mukat: freedom, being set free. Palai paa-ee: placed in your lap, received as a gift through the Perfect Guru.

A Question to Sit With

What is something steady you can hold onto when things get rough?
