This mind blossoms forth, in association with the True Guru. ||1||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Spring has come, and all the plants are bursting into flower.
This mind blossoms too, close to the True Guru.
When spring comes, even your mind can blossom.
Spring outside is a picture of spring inside. Guru Amar Das, the third Guru, looks at the fields in Basant, the spring season. Banaspat ma-ulee charhi-aa basant — spring has come, and every plant has burst into flower. Then he turns the picture inward. Ih man ma-oli-aa satguroo sang — this mind blossoms too, in the company of the True Guru.
Think of a garden after a long winter. Nobody forced those buds open. The warm sun did it. Time close to the Guru works like that warm sun on the mind.
A Question to Sit With
What does springtime make you feel like doing?
