So You Can Feel Peace

ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸਾਚੁ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਮੁਗਧ ਮਨਾ ॥

So meditate on the True Lord, O my foolish mind.

taaN sukh paavhu mayray manaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

So think on the True One, O my silly mind.

Only then will you find peace, O my mind.

A restless mind finds rest by turning toward what is real.
The deeper layer

Think on the True One, and your mind finds peace.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad, the line everything else leans on.

The Guru speaks to his own mind like a parent calling a child who has wandered off. He calls it foolish, but the tone is gentle. He is coaxing, not scolding. The advice is simple: think of the True One. The promise is simple too. Sukh paavhu mayray manaa — then you will find peace, my mind.

Think of a phone buzzing with a hundred alerts. Turning toward the One is like finally setting it down. The mind gets to rest.

A Question to Sit With

What helps your restless mind finally settle?
