Your mind and body shall blossom forth in lush greenery, and you shall obtain the fruit of the Name of the One Lord. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O my mind, fix your attention on the Naam of the One.

Your mind and body will turn lush and green, and you will gather the fruit of the one Naam.

Rest your mind on the Naam and your whole self turns green.
The deeper layer

Rest your mind on the Naam, and your whole self turns green and bears fruit.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. The Guru speaks to his own mind: mayray man raam naam chit laa-ay — O my mind, rest your attention on the Naam. And here is the promise: man tan tayraa hari-aa hovai. Your mind and body will turn green together.

That is the spring theme of Basant turned into one clear instruction. Think of a seed in good soil. Give it steady water and sun, and it sprouts. Attention is the water. The fruit of the one Naam is the harvest that grows from it.

A Question to Sit With

Where does your attention go when you let it rest somewhere good?
