O mortal, meditate in remembrance on the Lord, who protects you forever, and saves you in the end. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Night and day, two calls go out.

O my mind, remember the One, who always protects you and keeps you safe at the end.

Every day quietly calls you to remember what matters.
The deeper layer

Every night and every day call you to remember the One who keeps you safe.

Rain dinas du-ay saday pa-ay means night and day, two calls go out. Think of the gentle alarm on a phone that reminds you, morning and evening, to do what matters.

Man har simrahu means my mind, remember the One. Ant sadaa rakh la-ay means the One protects you always and keeps you safe at the end. So this is a picture of steady care, from the start of your life right to the finish.

A Question to Sit With

What little daily thing reminds you of what matters most?
