In plain words

Five thieves gang up and raid the village of my body, and they steal my treasure, the Naam of the One.

Following the Guru's teaching, I track them down and catch them, and my treasure comes back, whole and safe.

The good you carry inside can be protected, and even recovered whole.
The deeper layer

Five inner thieves can steal the treasure of the Naam, and the Guru's teaching gets every bit of it back.

Panch chor mil laagay nagree-aa: five thieves join together and raid the village, the body. The panch, the five, are inner pulls: craving, anger, greed, clinging and pride. Raam naam Dhan hiri-aa: they steal the wealth of the Naam. Gurmat khoj paray tab pakray: with the Guru's teaching they are tracked down and caught. Dhan saabat raas ubri-aa: the wealth is saved, saabat, whole. Think of a detective following footprints in the snow straight to the thief.

A Question to Sit With

What are some feelings that can sneak in and steal your good mood? How do you catch them?
