In plain words

O Lord, fulfill the wishes of Your servant. Give me Your Name, O One.

Nanak says: my mind and body are filled with joy, because the Guru has given me the mantra of the One's Name.

The best wish to make is for the very thing that fills you with joy.
The deeper layer

The wish worth making is for the Naam, and when it is given, mind and body fill with joy.

Jan kay poor manorath — fulfill the wishes of Your servant. And the wish is clear: har naam dayvhu, give me the Naam.

Jan naanak man tan anad bha-i-aa hai — Nanak's mind and body are full of anad, bliss. Gur mantar dee-o — the Guru has given the mantra, the Naam to repeat and keep close. Think of a friend whispering a happy secret to you. You carry it all day, and it makes you smile every time you think of it.

A Question to Sit With

If you could wish for one thing that would make you happy all the way through, what would it be?
