In plain words

Someone may practice great self-control, kindness and careful worship.

But if greed fills them inside, and their mind is lost in what poisons it,

how can they find the Pure One?

Outer good acts cannot cover for greed that is still steering you inside.
The deeper layer

Even good habits cannot reach the One if greed is quietly in charge inside.

Someone might be a sanjmee, a person with strong self-control. They might do careful acts of worship. But antar lobh — greed is inside. Their mind is tangled up in wanting the wrong things.

Think of a clean, shiny car with a leak in the engine. It looks fine, but it will not get far. The verse asks how such a person can find the niranjan, the One who is completely pure. The answer keeps pointing inward. The work is clearing out what secretly steers us. Greed is the illness to heal. The person is not bad.

A Question to Sit With

Is it possible to do a kind thing for a selfish reason? How would you know?
