Why You Were Given This Life

jaa kaaran ih dulabh dayh.
For this reason, you have been blessed with this body, so difficult to obtain.
so bol mayray parabhoo deh.
O my Dear God, please bless me to speak the Naam.

This tranquil peace is found in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
sadaa ridai japee parabh tayro naam. ||3||
May I always chant and meditate within my heart on Your Name, O God. ||3||

In plain words

You were given this body, so hard to get, for one reason.

O my dear One, bless me to speak that Naam.

This calm, restful peace is found in the Sangat of holy people.

May I always chant Your Naam in my heart, O One.

This rare life was given for a reason worth remembering.
The deeper layer

This rare life is given so you can speak the Naam, and rest is found in the Sangat.

Jaa kaaran ih dulabh dayh — for this reason you were given this dulabh dayh, a body that is very hard to get. So bol mayray prabhoo deh — give me that word, the Naam, to speak.

Saadhsangat meh ih bisraam — this rest is found in the saadhsangat, the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. Bisraam is the deep rest of a traveler who has finally reached a shade tree. Sadaa ridai japee prabh tayro naam — may I always repeat Your Naam in my heart.
