Verse 4 of 5

Finally, Enough

ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਤੋਖੇ ਦਰਸੁ ਪੇਖਿ ॥
naytar santokhay daras paykh.
My eyes are content, gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan.
ਰਸਨਾ ਗਾਏ ਗੁਣ ਅਨੇਕ ॥
rasnaa gaa-ay gun anayk.
My tongue sings the Infinite Praises of God.
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੂਝੀ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
tarisnaa boojhee gur parsaad.
My thirst is quenched, by Guru's Grace.
ਮਨੁ ਆਘਾਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਹਿ ਸੁਆਦਿ ॥੩॥
man aaghaanaa har raseh su-aad. ||3||
My mind is satisfied, with the sublime taste of the Lord's subtle essence. ||3||

In plain words

My eyes are content, looking at the One.

My tongue sings the One's countless praises.

By the Guru's grace, my thirst is quenched.

My mind is full and satisfied, tasting the sweetness of the One.

Some thirsts are only quenched by the One — and then, finally, enough.
The deeper layer

At last the heart feels full: the eyes, the tongue and the mind are all satisfied.

naytar santokhay daras paykh — my eyes are happy just seeing the One. My tongue keeps singing about the One's many good qualities.

Then the big change. tarisnaa boojhee gur parsaad — by the Guru's grace, my tarisnaa, my thirst for more and more, is put out. Think of wanting one more game, one more snack, one more video, again and again. Then one day you feel full and happy just as you are. man aaghaanaa — the mind is satisfied, enjoying the sweet taste of the One.

A Question to Sit With
