You Harvest What You Plant

kirat onHaa kaa mitas naahi.
The record of their past actions cannot be erased.
o-ay apnaa beeji-aa aap khaahi.
They harvest and eat what they have planted.
jan kaa rakhvaalaa aap so-ay.
The Lord Himself is the Protector of His humble servants.
jan ka-o pahuch na sakas ko-ay. ||3||
No one can rival the humble servant of the Lord. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Their deeds cannot be wiped away.

They eat what they themselves have planted.

The One is the protector of the One's people.

No one can rival the One's humble servant.

The seeds you plant today become the fruit you taste tomorrow.
The deeper layer

What people plant, they harvest, and the One protects the One's own people.

oi apnaa beejiaa aap khaahi — they eat what they plant (karma). jan kaa rakhvaalaa aap so-ay — the One is the protector.

A Question to Sit With

What kind of 'seeds' would you like to plant with your actions this week?
