Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

They alone are rich who have the One as their wealth.

Through the Guru's Word, craving and anger are wiped away.

Their fears are gone, and they reach a place with no fear at all.

Nanak says: meeting the Guru, I hold my Master in my mind.

The only wealth that makes you rich is carried inside.
The deeper layer

The richest people carry the One as their wealth, and with that wealth fear goes away.

Say Dhanvant jin har parabh raas: they are wealthy whose raas, whose savings, is the One. Kaam kroDh gur sabad naas means that through the Guru's Word, strong craving and anger are wiped out.

Bhai binsay nirbhai pad paa-i-aa: fears disappear, and a person reaches nirbhai pad, the place of no fear. Think of a piggy bank nobody can break into. What you have saved there is safe, so there is nothing left to worry about. Gur mil naanak khasam Dhi-aa-i-aa: meeting the Guru, Nanak keeps his Master in mind.

A Question to Sit With

What is a kind of wealth that no one could ever take away from you?
