In plain words

The eight wonder-powers and the nine treasures are all in the Naam. It comes as a gift to the one the One gives it to.

O One, Your servants live by repeating Your Name again and again.

Nanak says: meeting the Guru, the lotus of the heart opens wide.

A heart rooted in the One opens wide, like a flower in full bloom.
The deeper layer

Every treasure there is lives in the Naam, and it comes as a gift that makes the heart bloom.

Asat siDh nav niDh ayh: the eight wonder-powers and the nine treasures, old names for every marvel and every riches people dream of, are all in the Naam. Karam paraapat jis naam dayh: it comes by grace, to the one the One gives it to.

Parabh jap jap jeeveh tayray daas: Your servants live by repeating Your Name. Gur mil naanak kamal pargaas: meeting the Guru, the lotus opens. A lotus grows up out of muddy water and opens its petals clean and bright in the sun. The heart opens like that.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like when your heart 'opens up' with joy?
