In plain words

There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.

Remembering the One, every wish of mine has come true.

I was apart from the One for so long, and the One has brought me back together.

Remembering the One is like coming home after a long time away.
The deeper layer

Remembering the One is like coming home after a long time away.

This shabad is by Guru Arjan, the fifth Guru, in short one-line verses. It opens with the blessing: One Creator, known by the True Guru's grace.

Sagal ichhaa jap punnee-aa — through jap, remembering the One, every longing is fulfilled. Parabh maylay chiree vichhunni-aa — the One brings back the one who was apart for so long.

Think of a grandparent at the airport, arms wide open, after years apart. The long wait ends in one hug.

A Question to Sit With

Who or what feels like home the moment you return to it?
