In plain words

There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.

Come together, my brothers and sisters. Put away the split, two-minded feeling, and lovingly fix your heart on the One.

Join yourselves to the Naam of the One. Turned toward the Guru, spread out your mat and sit down.

Some things go better when you gather close and face them together.
The deeper layer

Life is like a board game, and it begins with friends gathering to play.

Ho-ay ikatar milhu mayray bhaa-ee — come together, my brothers and sisters. DubiDhaa door karahu — put away dubiDhaa, the two-minded, second-guessing feeling. Then liv laa-ay: settle your heart lovingly on the One.

In Guru Arjan's time, a favorite game was played on a cloth mat, a bit like Ludo. Gurmukh baishu safaa vichhaa-ay — as a gurmukh, a person turned toward the Guru, spread out your mat and sit down. The game of life is about to begin, and you are invited to play it well.

A Question to Sit With

What feels easier when you do it with people beside you?
