The sublime soul-brides play with their Lord God. The Gurmukhs look within themselves; their minds are filled with faith. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

Joining with my friends and companions, I am dressed in the One's good qualities, like fine clothes.

The happiest brides play with their Beloved, the One. Those who turn to the Guru search within, and their minds fill with faith.

Turn toward the teaching and look within, and your restless mind finally settles.
The deeper layer

Gather with friends, wear the One's good qualities, look within, and your mind settles in faith.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. The bride calls her friends together. Mil sakhee sahaylee har gun banay — come, friends, we are made lovely by the One's good qualities.

Picture getting dressed up for a festival. Here the fine clothes are kindness, truth and patience, the One's own qualities, worn by us.

Then comes the inner part. Khojat man manay — searching within, the mind at last agrees and settles. This is trust from the inside. It means living the truth, not only believing it. The joy comes with companions and in looking within, together.

A Question to Sit With

What helps your mind feel settled instead of restless and searching?
