The Long Worry Ends

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਸੰਸਾ ਚੂਕਾ ਰਤਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਬ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
janam janam kaa sansaa chookaa ratan naam jab paa-i-aa.
The cynicism of countless lifetimes has been eradicated, since I obtained the jewel of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸਕਲ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਨਿਜ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
tarisnaa sakal binaasee man tay nij sukh maahi samaa-i-aa. ||2||
My mind was rid of all its desires, and I was absorbed in the peace of my own inner being. ||2||

In plain words

The doubt I carried through lifetime after lifetime is gone, now that I have found the jewel of the Naam.

All the "I need more" has left my mind, and I have sunk into the peace of my own inner self.

The peace you're searching for may already be waiting quietly inside you.
The deeper layer

An old, long worry can end in a single moment.

Janam janam kaa sansaa chookaa — the doubt of many lifetimes is gone. Sansaa means doubt or worry, the nagging "what if" that never leaves. It ended the moment the jewel of the Naam was found.

Then all the restless wanting quieted down. What was left was nij sukh — the peace of one's own inner self. Think of looking everywhere for your glasses, and then finding them on your head. The peace was inside all along. It was just waiting to be noticed.

A Question to Sit With

What worry would you most love to finally set down for good?
